Evidence-based Communication Techniques for Talking about Climate Change
Emily Moberg, executive chair for the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation, will review the importance of using effective communication techniques when entering the fraught conversation on climate change. Ecologists, whose studied systems are often impacted by climate change, face an additional challenge of explaining both climate phenomena and their downstream effects or feedbacks.

She will then teach several of these communications techniques, including tested metaphors and values, and the usage of explanatory chains and solutions. These tools have been tested in informal science institutions across the United States.
